What We Believe

About Us

THE HOLY SCRIPTURES

PHCC believes and accepts the Holy Scriptures as God’s divulged will; That both Old and New Testaments are divinely inspired by God.

PHCC further believes that the Bible is infallible in its assertion, all sufficient in its provisions and final in its authority. (2 Timothy 3: 16; 1 Thessalonians 2: 13; 2 Peter 1: 21).

THE ONE TRUE GOD

PHCC believes in the existence of the One True God, Elohim, Maker of the whole universe; revealed as Truine God–Father, Son and Holy Spirit- One in nature, essence, and attributes; Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent.

Further revealed as the eternally self-existent “I AM”, Creator of Heaven and Earth and Redeemer of mankind. (Genesis 1: 1; Deuteronomy 6: 4; Matthew 3: 16-17; 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13: 14).

THE FALL AND DEPRAVITY OF MAN

PHCC believes that Man was created good and upright; for God said ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness’. However, man voluntarily sinned “all men have sinned and come short of the glory of God” causing separation from God and is subject to eternal punishment; and therefore needs repentance and regeneration. (Genesis 1: 26; Genesis 3: 1-19; Isaiah 53: 6; Romans 5: 12-19.

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

a) HIS DEITY

Holy Scripture declares that the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was born of a virgin, led a sinless life, performed miracles, died an atoning death on the cross, resurrected and ascended into Heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God. (Matthew 1: 23, Hebrews 7: 26, Acts 2: 22, 1 Corinthians 15: 3, Luke 24: 39, Hebrews 1:3).

b) OUR SAVIOR

PHCC believes that Man needs a Savior and that Man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God. This need has been met in the person of Jesus Christ. We also believe in His abiding intercession and second coming to judge the living and the dead. (Philippians 2: 6-11).

MAN’S SALVATION AND SANCTIFICATION

PHCC believes that salvation is received through repentance and confession of Man’s sins before God. It is our belief that Man is regenerated and renewed by the Holy Ghost, being justified by God through grace and by Man’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Man then becomes an heir of God according to the hope of eternal life. (Luke 15: 7; Luke 24: 47; John 3: 3; Romans 10: 13-15; Acts 2: 38; Romans 4: 25; 5: 16; 1 Corinthians 1: 30; 1 Thessalonians 4: 3).

Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God (Romans 12: 1-2, Hebrews 13: 12) We believe that by the power of the Holy Ghost, we are able to obey the command: ‘Be ye Holy, for I am Holy” 1 Peter 1: 15-16) PHCC further believes that a life of righteousness and true holiness demonstrates the outward evidence of Man’s salvation, while the direct witness of the Spirit portrays inward evidence of salvation. (Ephesians 4: 24; Romans 8: 16).

CHURCH ORDINANCES

The Holy Scriptures command that all who repent and believe on Christ as Savior and Lord are to be baptized. By so doing, they declare to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also have been raised with Him to walk in newness of life.

Holy Communion, (The Lord’s Supper) is commanded by Jesus Christ for His Church. The bread and fruit of the vine are the symbols expressing Man’s sharing of the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ, a memorial of His suffering and death and a prophecy of His second coming; and are charged to all believers ‘till He come!’ (Matthew 28: 19-20; Mark 16: 16; Luke 22: 19-20; Acts 10:47; Romans 6:4; 2 Peter 1: 4; 1 Corinthians 11:26).

HOLY GHOST BAPTISM, GIFTS AND FRUIT

PHCC believes that baptism in the Holy Spirit produces power for life and service and also bestows gifts that can be used in the work of the Ministry. (Luke 24: 29; 1 Corinthians 12; 1-31; We believe that this baptism further brings a deeper reverence for God, an intensified consecration to God and dedication to His work as well as a more active love for Christ. (John 7: 37-39; Hebrews 12: 28; Acts 2: 42) We also believe that speaking in tongues – as the Spirit of God gives them utterance (Acts 2: 4) is an initial evidence of the Holy Ghost baptism for believers. Likewise, PHCC believes in the operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the bearing of fruits in the lives of believers. (Mark 16: 17; Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 12: 8-11; Galatians 5: 22-23).

DIVINE HEALING

PHCC believes that God reveals in the Holy Scriptures, His Will to heal the sick. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers. However, our Church does NOT oppose the application of medicine or medical technology by qualified medical practitioners for healing purposes. (Isaiah 53: 4-5; 2 Kings 20:7; Matthew 9: 12; Luke 10: 34; Colossians 4: 14).

TITHES AND OFFERINGS

‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.(Malachi 3: 10)’ PHCC believes in tithing and in giving of freewill offerings towards the cause of carrying forward the Kingdom of God. PHCC believes that God blesses a cheerful giver. (Genesis 14: 18-20; 28: 20-22; Matthew 23: 23; Acts 20: 35; 1 Corinthians 16: 1-3; 2 Corinthians 9: 1-9).

THE SECOND COMING, FINAL JUDGEMENT AND THE NEXT LIFE

PHCC believes in the Second Coming of Christ and the Resurrection of the dead, both saved and unsaved; they that are saved, to the resurrection of life, and they that are unsaved, to the resurrection of damnation. (Mark 13: 26; Daniel 12: 2; John 5: 28-29; Acts 1: 11; 10: 42; Romans 2: 7-11; 6: 23).
