Sermon Title: Guard the Oil
Service: Impartation Service
Theme: Guard the Oil
Introduction
We are ordinary until the anointing comes upon us. The anointing is what makes the difference—it transforms us into another person in God’s hands.
Declaration: I see the anointing making a difference in the life of someone in this house.
Scriptures:
- 1 Samuel 10:6 (KJV) — “And the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.”
- Isaiah 10:27 (KJV) — “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”
Why Do We Need to Protect the Anointing?
1. By the Anointing, You Will Break Through Obstacles and Barriers
- Samaria was a hard place for the Gospel; historically divided and filled with opposition.
- Elisha followed Elijah faithfully until the double portion came at Jordan.
Scriptures:
- 2 Kings 17:24 — Assyrians occupied Samaria.
- John 4:9 — Jews had no dealings with Samaritans.
2. Spiritual Deception in the Land
- Simon the Sorcerer deceived many with magic and familiar spirits.
- The Samaritans had only accepted the first five books of the Torah.
- But the Gospel broke through because of the anointing.
Scriptures:
- Acts 1:14 — They continued in prayer.
- Acts 1:8 — “You shall receive power… and be witnesses in Samaria.”
- Acts 8:5–9 — Philip preached Christ in Samaria; miracles and deliverance followed.
- Acts 8:12–13 — Even Simon believed and was baptized.
➡️ When the anointing shows up, deception is exposed. Sorcery ends. Lives are transformed.
How Do I Protect/Guard the Oil?
1. Step Away from Sinful Living
- A contaminated vessel cannot carry the anointing.
- It is not noise that carries power but the oil of the Spirit.
- God cannot use us if we are living in sin.
Scriptures:
- 2 Timothy 1:14 — Guard what was committed to you by the Holy Ghost.
- Judges 16:20 — Samson lost the anointing without realizing it.
2. Guard Your Speech
- Matthew 15:11 — It is not what goes in but what comes out that defiles.
- Words of unforgiveness, gossip, and bitterness can quench the Spirit.
3. Walk in Obedience
- 1 Samuel 15:22 — Obedience is better than sacrifice.
- The anointing increases as we yield to God’s commands.
4. Avoid Pride and Self-Glory
- Never take the credit that belongs to God.
- Pride makes you unteachable and vulnerable to destruction.
Scripture:
- Ezekiel 28:14–17 — The fall of the anointed cherub because of pride.
Conclusion
The oil—the anointing—must be guarded at all costs.
- It breaks yokes.
- It exposes deception.
- It empowers for service.
- It sustains victory.
When you guard the oil, God can use you continually for His glory.
