Sermon Title: The Secret Place
“This is the place you have to be in to grow.”

Sermon Focus: “Alone with God”

  • Key Thought:
Awaken the transformative power of prayer through personal time with God.
  • Main Scripture:
    Matthew 6:6 (NKJV):
“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”
  • Key Insight:
The seed does not grow openly. It must be hidden in the ground, unseen, undergoing a process of transformation until it grows into something visible.

Principles of the Secret Place:

1. Everyone Must Meet God Privately Before He Uses Them Publicly

  • Biblical Examples:
    • Jesus –
    • David
    • Moses
    • Elijah
  • Scriptures:
    • Mark 1:35: “Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.”
    • Luke 5:16: “So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.”
    • Jesus, even though the Son of God, set the example by having intimate time with the Father.

2. The Secret Place is Where You Are Transformed

  • Challenges of Today:
    • Many believers have lost the art of solitude with God due to distractions such as phones, social media, work, and busyness.
    • Solution: We need to renew our spiritual life through personal time with God in the secret place.

3. The Importance of Being Alone with God

  • Renewal Happens in the Secret Place:
    • Isaiah 40:31:
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
    • “Those” refers to specific people—those who wait on the Lord.
  • Key Prayer:
“I pray that people in this church will be the ones that wait on the Lord.”

4. Four Transformative Outcomes of the Secret Place:

  1. Renewed Strength – Spiritual vitality is restored.
  2. Fresh Vision – Clarity and direction from the Lord.
(Revelation 1:10: “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet.”)
  3. Ability to Rise Above Challenges – Overcome difficulties with endurance.
  4. Endurance for the Christian Journey – You will run and not grow weary, walk and not faint.

How to Enter the Secret Place:

  1. It’s Personal:
    • The secret place is about a personal connection with God; it’s not for a crowd. It is about your heart connecting with God’s presence.
  2. Shut the Door:
    • Eliminate distractions. Disconnect from social media, turn off the TV, and clear your mind.
    • The Location Doesn’t Matter:
      • Your secret place could be your car, on a walk, or any place you can commune with God in quiet.
  3. God is Always in the Secret Place:
    • In the Old Testament Tabernacle, the Ark of the Covenant represented God’s presence.
    • The Holy of Holies: In the past, only the high priest could enter, but now, God is waiting for you there. He is always present and ready to meet you.
  4. Power is Born in the Secret Place:
    • Those who stay longer in private communion with God will see public results.
    • Luke 6:12-13:
      • Jesus prayed all night before calling His disciples and choosing the twelve apostles.
      • The result: Power flowed from Jesus to heal the multitude.

The Price of Spiritual Growth:

  • There is a cost to spiritual growth. You are responsible for the level you are at in your Christian walk.
  • Prayer: “Lord, I want to know more of you, more of your power, more of your anointing.”
  • Example:
    • Joshua stayed in God’s presence and commanded the sun to stand still.
    • Exodus 33:11:
“So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.”

Conclusion:

Final Prayer:
“May you not miss God’s voice. May He give you the answers you’ve been seeking, new grace, and a deeper desire to stay in His presence.”

The Secret Place is Where God Sifts, Shapes, and Changes You.
When you spend time alone with God, He will feed your spirit, give you clarity, and fill you with strength.
Sacrifice your time for God and seek His presence.
